IHP+ welcomes Comoros as a new signatory and partner.
On 18 May 2015, IHP+ welcomed Comoros as a signatory to the IHP+ Global Compact. Dr Marie-Paule Kieny, Assistant Director-General WHO, and Ms Nicole Klingen, Practice Manager - Health, Nutrition and Population, World Bank gave welcome speeches.
Vice-president Dr Fouad Mohadji is very committed to a strong health partnership in Comoros. In September 2014, he led a high-level meeting and gave a speech calling for all health partners to harmonize their support and align to national policies and priorities. The Comoros Head of State, UN agency representatives and heads of bilateral and multilateral organisations attended the meeting which was facilitated WHO/AFRO/PRM and HHA Secretariat.
In December 2014, Comoros adopted a new Health policy 2015-2024 and a new Health Strategic Plan 2015-2019 which takes into account the IHP+ agenda. There are plans to elaborate Comoro’s first national monitoring and evaluation plan, and a national compact based on the new strategic health plan. Comoros published its first National Health Accounts report in 2011 and has launched the process for new NHA based on 2012-2014 data. It is also progressing well in the Country Accountability Framework.
